They played 2 teams currently in the CFP Top 25 (Oregon and USC). They lost to both of those teams. Ironically, BYU has 2 wins against CFP Top 25 teams.
Of Utah’s 11 wins, only 3 were against teams with winning records. And of those 3 teams, they all had marginal winning records at 7-5. One of those 3 wins was against BYU. You could argue BYU was one of their better wins. BYU had 5 wins against teams with winning records.
Utah won 8 of the 9 conference games. Of those 8 wins, none of the teams has a winning conference record. Yep, you read that right. All 8 of those teams finished the season with a losing conference record.
I still think Utah has a very solid team. Even with what I’d consider a weaker P5 schedule, they beat teams by 27 points a game. They beat teams in the manner a good team should win. They were just fortunate not to play many good teams.
