Partial to Ford. While the V8 rumble is missed, there’s just something about
tapping the gas, the truck reacting like a sports car even at interstate speeds, and yet listening to the EcoBoost engine you’d think it barely woke up at all.

Almost all the V8s right now are really nice, sound great, and are light years improved from 15 years ago. But they all still have to rev high to find their power band. Makes you want to use it less because you feel like you’re asking so much of it.

Meanwhile, the power in the turbo engines kicks in just over 2k rpms. They rarely have to rev high, so they rarely feel like they’ve been asked to do anything.

Anyway, my next choice would be a GM followed by Toyota. The Ram is better designed than the current Toyota, but the quality still isn’t there.

I have two friends with Rams. One has just replaced his transmission. I swapped trucks the other day with the other friend. It’s a 2016 with the 8 speed and has less than 50k on it. The transmission was already shifting funny. Good trucks, they both ride and feel great, and have plenty of power. I just don’t like the idea of replacing transmissions.
