The US has about 250 Million KWH of “peak” capacity.

Over 8 hours that should cover about 200 million electric vehicles. I don’t think we are there yet. Fortunately, smart meters will coordinate vehicle charging with grid capacity, potentially leading to grid savings by having near instant capacity management.
