If someone has invented something that no one has ever done before and that solves a technical problem, then yeah. That's the type of innovation we want to incentivize. We want to reward that type of progress with robust patent protection. And we want to incentivize competitors to design around or come up with better innovations that do stuff in better different ways.

If you don't do that, then what's to stop every large company from just ripping off every cool feature and every good idea that every small competing business comes up with? Literally nothing.
