He led us with 20 pts and 11 boards. Even made most of his free throws down the stretch. Hit a bunch of shots in our early run in the 1st qtr from the high post. Then took Colton Holt, big kid from Mackay, off the bounce a couple of times to the rack from the high post. He is going to be a good one as he should grow another inch or two and has a great first step and good ball handling and passing skills. He should develop into our best player in our district next year and potentially be a State POY candidate at our level as a junior and senior.
Colt Holt, the Mackay big, should get a shot at some level as an OL. He is really quite nimble on his feet for such a big kid. He is from LDS stock up that way, although I don't know if they are overwhelmingly active, and he really strikes me as the type that could have used Ricks as a JC. Develop a couple of years with better strength and conditioning program, play 11 man vs 8 man and actually go against something other than a skinny 9th grader in practice and perhaps get a chance to play college ball at some level after 2-3 years in a JC. Sadly, they never consulted me as to whether or not they should do away with sports up at Rexburg.
