The decision they made was between staying with Darnold, or drafting Wilson. Obviously, they decided to draft Wilson. Then it's just a matter of getting whatever you can when other teams aren't beating down your door to trade for Darnold.

A bad decision would have been to not trade Darnold and draft Wilson... then try to trade Darnold after the draft when they would be able to get even less for him.
