You could argue that getting rid of landlords will also cause a greater
socio-economic divide among the populace. Apartments become the only indicator of a renter who can't afford a home. If you had teens and lived in an apartment their friends and acquaintances are more likely to categorize them poor. Not the most important factor but one that I Guarantee many renters care about as their kids are going to school etc. Its pretty hard to build the same type of friendships and neighbor relationships apartments that you can in a neighborhood of homes.
