Basically BYU's class rankings have gone down, and while the average recruit rating has gone up, it hasn't done so as fast as recruit ratings have inflated.

Basically, we've got a job making $60k a year and are arguing we're more successful than our grandfather who only made $50k a year when he worked 40 years ago. Can't necessarily blame it all on independence, but it's inarguable that we have had a steady decline in recruiting since going independent.
