Hockey wasn’t ever officially part of the extramurals department.

They had an agreement with the school to allow them to use the affiliation with the school so they could stay in their league. That agreement provided very little from the school to the team beyond permission to be “BYU Hockey”.

The agreement renewed yearly, and they informed the team this year it wouldn’t renew after this season.

According to some people on the team the reasons they got were vague and they don’t fully understand why they aren’t renewing it.
