Is it bad to ask “do we need to save the California condor?”

Thousands of species have gone extinct over the 4 quadrillion years the earth has been around. Why are we so intent on preventing the circle of life?

Is there something inherently special about this bird? Or is it just because it’s from California?

Virtually every condor must be trapped and tested for lead every year. It’s a huge, expensive ordeal.

It's the largest flight bird in North America. Its wingspan is over 10ft.
