I am guessing that regardless of the merits, this is going to be a pretty messy deal if they try to take their money away. Still, people have been signing very restrictive "grant of rights" and conference agreements have plenty of penalties to force teams to stay together.
By contrast, the SEC has no penalties for leaving. Shows you how confident they are in their conference.
This is one of the huge risks of joining the Little 8 - how much will the penalty be to leave, and how much of our media rights will we have to sign over? How long will it take to leave if things go bad?
We should not be willing to jump into a situation that could be a disaster if we are locked in until 2035 (like the ACC).
