I don't. You put it on the unpopped kernels. That is why it works so great. The fine nature of the salt actually sticks
to the kernels when they pop. I put in about 2 teaspoons of salt per batch in the pot and the stirring action during popping coats the kernels. That amount is usually enough popcorn for about 4-5 people. I don't add any salt afterwards.
