From pretty much every angle you look at it the defense is not good this year. Scheme and talent certainly both play a
role. The one area they have been above average is in turnovers where they rank 25th overall in the percentage of opposing drives that end in a turnover. That has been important.
But in terms of stopping people or preventing points consistently they are simply not good.

Not sure where you are getting your information. Mandell has been the starter all year and Hayes was a backup corner
