The idea that all schools outside the big 2 are being left with breadcrumbs financially is way overblown. Sure, the $$ may eventually be double but $50 million is a heck a lot of money.
Look at how BYU stayed alive on a few $$ million over the independence years. Schools in the P5 were getting 10’s of $$$millions, but the AAC and the MWC still eked out their existence.
That will continue to take place because CFB is an institution. And the layoff has to be inclusive of at least the top 7-8 conferences or the overall public will lose interest. Even now people are a little tired of the same 5-6 teams in the mix.
BYU is on the verge of unprecedented money. $30-50+million per year in Provo, Houston, Orlando and Cincinnati is mind-boggling money.
Even if the money is double elsewhere, the big 12, ACC aren’t going anywhere.
