as many others have alluded to "playing soccer" in the US doesn't mean a thing unless you have access to the right environment -> that's living in a soccer metro area that has clubs/competition/coaching from a young age followed by moving to an academy by age 12-14 whether in the US or Europe, then hoping you have the unique skill set that sets high level soccer players apart.
Just wishing the Dade County Miami football players picked up soccer instead of football wouldn't change one thing.
