This TIC but it’s actually a good argument for having the right type of athlete focus on the right sport. In the past all Europeans focused on soccer so players like doncic, jokic, antentkoumpo, would have focused on soccer even though their physical profile was a terrible fit for it. Now that basketball is more prevalent in Europe, 3 of top 5 players in the NBA are European. The same is starting to happen with soccer in the US with the growth in academies. Soccer isn’t going to take players from the NBA or NFL and vice versa, but players with a soccer skill set who normally would only focus on football or basketball, but almost not chance of going pro in it will start playing soccer instead.
