He had to scramble to pick up poorly & modestly skilled players to fill out his roster — just to be athletic & long enough to defend (guys like Gideon, SJ, Atiki & Stewart). Because he's at BYU & his early HS signees were tied up on missions — he's currently found himself in at a bit of an imbalance with skilled, inexperienced RMs trying to blend with experienced guys with modest offensive ability (SJ & Gideon), & also with a few transfers in Robinson, Waterman & Rudi — none of whom are gonna be able to carry this team, unfortunately — singly or collectively. Not this year, anyways.
Pope also has a talented but undersized big in Fouss who's going through his Sophomore struggles largely cuz he's getting little support in the paint.
I do believe (or at least hope) our RMs are gonna get up to speed & deliver us this season, but it's gonna take time for it to shake out into a team that is consistent. Right now we are anything but consistent.
