I don’t know much about BYU’s guy, but if he’s the only guy they trust, they aren’t going to leave the backup duties to a true freshman. They will add graduate transfers or just transfers. So that room you post won’t look remotely similar in another year.
As for Utah, I had really high hopes for Nate Johnson. The guy is blazing fast and has a strong arm. But he was behind Rose in the Spring despite the most reps and experience. I’m starting to hope he opts for a position change, but he might just transfer. Mack just didn’t look like a college QB to me in the Spring game, but who knows. He’s right out of HS and needs some time. So it could be Rose and no one else in one year. They would obviously bring in more guys.
Anyway, I guess my point is that you almost can’t look at a quarterback room to factor into your decision at all. They just change so much as a result of injuries, transfers, etc. Maybe if a kid is a 5-star stud who can start right away, it changes things. Otherwise, it’s a crap shoot.
