Getting an All-Star at #3 is statistically a 50/50 gamble. Why trade an All Star
starter for a 50/50 gamble? That's why. You have a 27% chance of a lottery pick becoming an All Star. Keep the guy who's already an all-star and roll the 1 in 4 chance that you can draft someone who also can become an all star and there's your 2 all star core for winning.

What leads you to believe that Sharpe is "an extremely talented player"? Certainly not his stats this past year.
