The Holland/Bosco Example Is Fair.

It's also apples and oranges.

Booing the kid that had just delivered a National Title (hello--you're BYU and you just won a national title. The QB that did that is still here. He doesn't get booed--EVER) was probably the worst BYU fan behavior I've seen or heard of at LES. The dufus who ran up to an Florida St. fan, calling for security, and screaming, "He's chewing tobacco in our STADIUM" is up there as well, but booing Bosco is tough to top.

BYU became incredibly spoiled from '83 to '84. Bosco was injured, and they kept it quiet. He had some games where he struggled somewhat, IIRC, though I don't know if actual stats will back that up. Anyhow, starting in '85, BYU fans often bordered on insufferable when it came to QB play. The QB dynasty was ending, and it was painful. But booing 22 year-old, All-American, ring-wearing Robbie Bosco for his play on the field? That's worse than elves booing Santa.

It has little to nothing to do with booing a specific, critical, and very bad decision by the head coach.
