But I agree with almost everything you just said. While I did not get to see Haws, Call, or Ainge play, there's no way that Carlino is in their class yet, so he definitely hasn't acheived "all time great" status yet. I think that people who bag on Carlino don't realize that we've had really mediocre Point Guards over the past 20 years. Saying that Matt is the best of that group (which I think I've made a pretty persuasive argument for) doesn't make him great, it just means he just take a little less heat from fans.

I think Rose has done exactly the right thing with Matt this year - he has a very quick hook, two consecutive bad shots or dumb passes land him on the bench. Rose sees his potential, and the best way to develop him is to make sure he's held accountable. While I think that he IS better than last year, his opening stretch of this year was MUCH worse than his play last year. That leaves me with some doubt that he will continue to develop, but I think he's more likely than not to end up a very, very good player.

My biggest frustration is when people say that Carlino should be benched for Cusick - that's crazy talk.
