Looking at the data, BYU has arguably had the greated QB run of all time, and it was certainly best of the time. Here's some data for you to take a look at relative to BYU and Miami (the other purported QBU):
1. Between 1976 and 1991 a BYU QB finished in the top ten of the Heisman voting 10 times.
2. During that same time, a BYU QB finished in the top 5 of the Heisman voting 8 times, with one winner.
3. From 1979 to 1985, a BYU QB finished in the top five of the Heisman voting an astounding five times!
BYU quarterbacks have won the Davy O'Brien award (for the top QB in the country) four times--more than any other school.
Let's take a look at Miami:
1. Between 1984 and 1992 (their run starts much later than BYU's), Miami QBs finsihed in the top ten of Heisman voting six times.
2. Same time period, they had five top five finishes, and two winners.
I don't think it's really that close--it's BYU in a virtual landslide.
