He wasn't run off, very few posters are actually run off, unless you mean posters that ran themselves off. He left because he was wrong and because he didn't like that people questioned his opinion, it's as simple as that.

I agree that this place is better off when information is shared, I also would say that people can and should express doubt or question info if they are not sure about it. I also believe people who are making stuff up or are speculating wildly on the open board are doing so at their own risk and are fair game when it comes to being questioned or criticized, especially when they have the "how dare you question me" attitude.

As far as the info not being available, it's still there, but more of it is posted in FO or given through BM's than the open board now compared to the past.
