be in the discussion. I disagree with that. I don't think the P12 sees BYU as a long-term fit with its LDS affiliation. I think the P12 (and likely even the B12) are looking WELL into the future. Yes, SDSU and UNLV aren't anywhere near USC and Oregon. However, not a lot of teams that are not in P5 conferences are.

If the P5 conferences (for some strange reason) had to have an equal number of members (like 14) and no P5 teams switched conferences, I don't think it's too crazy to think that SDSU and UNLV would be in the Pac. SDSU and UNLV may suck now. However, these are long-term decisions being made. SDSU and UNLV could become decent football teams after being in the Pac 12 for 30-40 years.

If the P12 HAD to add two teams just to be included in the "club" then I don't think it's a stretch to think they'd add UNLV and SDSU. The only reason they went to 12 was to get a CCG and more money. Yes, they tried to get OU and others and failed, but they still went ahead and added two teams that are below-average compared to other conference members because not every program stays crappy forever. (Look at Baylor and Duke.)
