I'd go with the Surface. I haven't used the Pro 2 or 3, but I own the original

I'd go with the type cover instead of the touch cover.

For tablets I like the pro 2 better, pro 3 screen is a bit big for me.

If it's primarily a work laptop, though, the bigger screen will be very useful.
