but a parking lot is not the place I would chose. I have seen tailgating at Oregon. It is pretty much an excuse to drink, and I think for most tailgaters drinking is a big part. I would rather play a morning round of golf and go to the game in the afternoon than sit in the parking lot. But good for BYU to open more lots for tailgating.

But I see your point. If you are driving up from Vegas for each game it is more natural to make a day of it. If I lived out of town I can see parking an RV in the west parking lot and hanging out before and after the game.

Is Sam Boyd Stadium the new name or the old name for the stadium? Yes that stadium is a dump but they do have one big advantage over Edwards Stadium - back rails on the bleachers.
