The QBs seem to be the easy ones to blame, and that is definitely the majority
opinion, but I actually carry a slightly different viewpoint.

Allow me to play Uncle Rico just long enough to opine about the expectations of receivers. I was always taught that if you can touch the ball, you can catch the ball. It all comes down to concentration.

Now, I actually went back through the games starting in the second half of the Michigan game when it seemed that the QB performance started to seriously wane.

2 things have happened:

1) Devonte Booker has emerged as a legitimate threat who will get 30+ carries per game. This decreases the number of passing plays to begin with, and also places a greater importance on their success.

2) The receivers are dropping passes that should have been caught and they are in VERY key situations that have been both drive killers and game killers (Dres Anderson's drop against WSU when he was wide open and it hit him in the chest would have sealed that game). Now, Dres' infamous drop against WSU is (as infamous would imply) well known and discussed, but in reviewing the games, he has had at least 3 passes in each game that were EASY catches that would have sustained drives.

When Wilson was pulled against UCLA, he had seen 3 key drops that would have sustained each of his first three drives. He got pulled. Why was Thompson more successful? Because he started running the ball himself and reduced the importance of the receiving corps. Similarly, in the first half against OSU, Thompson fell victim to drive killing drops that were VERY catchable.

I personally think that Dres Anderson is a Quarterback killer right now and that is REALLY disturbing.
