This is correct. I use marriott points all the time and you're hard pressed to
find places for under 15k/night. Usually more like 30k in places you'd want to go for vacation.
However, 140k points can get you 5 nights at the Atlantis in the Bahamas right now. They just became a marriott property. Those rooms are typically 500+ a night depending on what time a year.
