was the most successful basketball coach in the history of the school. Since the implementation of the modern tournament format, ASU as been the NCAA tourney 7 times. Two under Sendek, once under Rob Evans (Sendek's immediate predecessor), twice under Bill Frieder (predecessor to Evans) (with one sweet 16 appearance), and twice under Ned Wulk (his last two years as coach were the first two years of the modern tourney format).
Sendek took them twice in 9 years; 5 seasons he had more than 20 wins (Bill Fieder only had 2 seasons with more than 20 wins in eight years). In today's college sports atmosphere, hitting historical expectations is no longer good enough. Your teams had better win and they had better win consistently.
