Any good/bad experiences buying from non-amazon sellers on amazon?

An item I'm looking at is $70 cheaper through a non-prime, non-amazon seller brand new. I've only purchased prime stuff on amazon (either fulfilled via amazon or straight from amazon) so I'm not entirely clear what types of purchase protection I get...

Just buy it and use a credit card. No risk.

Avoid buying things that ship from China
