Why do reporters insist on answering the question the way they want it to be
answered when doing an interview. I hear it so often. I get that they have their own agenda most of the time and want to lead an interview in a certain direction, but why can't more ask a simple direct question, that may actually lead to an interesting answer.

Gordon for example "you may be nervous, you may be a little anxious as to..." Then I think he asks a question, although I'm not quite sure if he ever did.
