but, the reason I posted the poll is that I've noticed a lot of DH supporters are much more likely to opt a "just do it our way and don't argue!" stance, and prefer simply to complain about pitchers hitting, and not being entertained enough, than they are actually interested in a meaningful debate about ways to bridge the conceptual gap, so I was curious if they were willing to put their DH where their mouth is and compromise, or if they'd just prefer to continue to complain and leave things as is.
It's refreshing to see that you, for one, are interested in debating a consensus. If it came to a point where pitchers "weren't allowed" to hit, I'd much prefer your suggestion even to most other hybrid suggestions out there. It's important to me that if one doesn't play defense, one doesn't hit. I could eventually be convinced to relinquish the insistence that the corollary - if one plays defense (in this case the pitcher), he should also hit - also exist.
