The game, with 9 players on a side no less, relies entirely too much on one player: The pitcher.
In baseball this shortcoming is somewhat mitigated by the fact that a pitcher can only throw about 6-9 innings a week, therefore limiting his impact on season outcomes.
Meanwhile in women's softball, the pitcher (who BTW benefits from an even shorter pitch reaction time and who can therefore be even more potentially dominant than a baseball pitcher) can pitch EVERY inning, of EVERY game, of an ENTIRE season. How is that even permitted? You get one dominant pitcher and you become nearly impossible to beat in women's softball. Again, winning games is largely based on the excellence of one player in what is supposed to be a team game. Don't get it. Don't like it. Won't watch it
Am I alone in this?
