I met Morgan one night at my work.
I flew him home from Oklahoma City. It was our last flight of the trip and we were done in SLC. We parked at the gate, the passengers deplaned, we shut everything down and headed for the curb to catch the employee shuttle bus.

He was just coming out of the bathroom as we passed by. He thanked us for flying him home safely. I told him that I had considered making a PA there in Oklahoma City welcoming Brandon Doman on the flight. (He once got introduced at a fireside he was speaking at as Brandon Doman) He and Coach Shaw both laughed.

Anyways, we walked out together. I told him that I was a BYU fan. He asked about my job and schedule. He asked about my wife and kids.

We talked about his job as well and his schedule. He talked about his church calling and balancing work and ward duties. It was something that was a struggle for me. My job keeps me away many Sundays.

We talked about a few other things. It was an enjoyable conversation.

He showed genuine interest in what I had to say. He was very friendly and appreciative of the service my crew had provided him. I left the airport that night a fan of Morgan Scalley.

I realized, team allegiances aside, we both share the same values and what is most important to me (God and family) is also most important to him.
