Well, Heaps' situation was still different. He was a starting QB at BYU
That fact alone makes the situation unique.
Remember, while Jake was doing the roller coaster on the field his wife was getting yelled at in the stands. Not by opposing fans, but family members of rival BYU players. Once life became miserable for his wife, his only real close support at the time, it became un-workable for them both at BYU.
