I don't really get how we have lost anything. I admit I get a little nostalgic
about heading down to the video store, browsing the titles, and picking something out, but there was a reason Blockbuster went out of business. That was the only way to do it back then, and Blockbuster had a very limited selection (not to mention, each movie cost like $7 in 2015 dollars). Today, we have all of the following:

1. Netflix streaming. Far less selection in movies than the average Blockbuster, but far better selection in TV shows. You can watch a hundred shows a month (or more if you so desire) for the same price per month as a single Blockbuster movie rental.
2. Netflix DVDs. If you want something that doesn't stream, you can get it here. Far, far more selection than a Blockbuster store, and far cheaper. This service basically killed Blockbuster, even without all the other stuff on this list
3. Amazon Prime/iTunes Rental. Don't want to wait 2 days for a DVD? Fine, rent it from Amazon or iTunes or one of the other sites. Selection is better than a Blockbuster, and price is generally half as much.
4. Redbox. If you want a recent move for a dollar, you can go here.

So what did we have in 1995 that we don't have now?
