I'll take a shot:
The appeals court held: (1) NCAA rules are subject to antitrust laws and analysis; (2) NCAA rules can't prohibit schools from providing scholarships to athletes that cover all of their costs of attending the school; and (3) a school making a small ($5000) deferred payment to student athletes for them to use after college is not as effective in maintaining amateurism as not making any deferred payment.

The appeals court upheld the lower court's ruling on points (1) and (2). The appeals court disagreed with the lower court on point (3) -- the lower court had said the NCAA should allow small deferred payments to be made. The appeals court reversed the lower court on this.

Bottom line: NCAA can't prevent schools from providing "full cost of attendance" scholarships, but the NCAA is not required to let schools pay student athletes even a (relatively) small amount of money.
