Good insight grounded in reality. I told everyone those two lucky plays and
close UCLA game, would cause many to go off the rails in frustration and fire bronco within 4 weeks. In preseason, I've learned to never pay attention to the hype or who looks good. Of any kind. Fitness, "best he's seen in awhile" "killing it in practice, gonna be good" and so on. Then, people freak out cause they believe all that stuff. It's great to be positive and optimist, I always have been, but ignoring something that is wrong doesn't help. Some take it to the extreme of defending the indefensible and adding classics like "you think you know more than coaches" "you couldn't do better", I hope i couldn't do better. Progress. Correcting recurring problems and then moving on to the next, is all I ask.

I did like plenty, but I also very much saw the deficiencies in depth, very poor performance w/ vital units at important times, but I never blame the players. Extreme mediocrity on the Oline and lack of depth, run blocking and pass blocking v Michigan. We tend to look toward QB and skill players, but every good team starts w/ both lines. Every mediocre, fall apart, mistake/penalty prone team has line play that is simply not adequate. So, liked some potential from players and step ups, but also the dark shadow roll over the field w/ issues recurring for several years. Like Yogi Berra said, "it's deja vu all over again." I'm not real critical on here re; coaches, but the recurring themes are quite obvious and one doesn't need to be a coach to see it. If you've played at HS or beyond, some of it's obvious. Not specifics, but inadequacy from key components.
