Virtually every expansion team in every sport in the 1990s (not counting very late 90s) use teal or purple as their color:

Baltimore Ravens - 1996 (purple)

Charlotte Hornets (teal; they started in 1988)

Toronto Raptors (purple)

Vancouver Grizzlies (teal)

NHL

San Jose Sharks (teal)

Ottawa Senators

Tampa Bay Lightning

Florida Panthers

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (teal)

Colorado Avalanche (purple)

MLB

Florida Marlins (teal)

Colorado Rockies (purple)

These colors were everywhere, even outside of sports. Go to Las Vegas and look at any neighborhood built in the 90s. I don't associate any other decades with colors like the 90s. Why?
