Using a sauce pan make a white sauce using butter, cream, and a little flour; separately boil pearl onions* until they are translucent; add the onion and the white sauce together.
* You can use regular yellow onions, but they don't pop in your mouth like pearl onions do. Pearl Onions are also sweet. Downside is that it takes a while to peel the pearl onions, and they are expensive, and it takes a few bag full to make a sizeable portion so everyone can enjoy.
I honestly have never had leftovers.
