that doesn't mean it turned out to be all the difficult. Because some teams end up being much worse than expected (e.g., Missouri). So I'm not sure why you insist on evaluating BYU's performance against the expectation of what their schedule would be instead of the reality of what their schedule actually was.
I'm not suggesting Holmoe went out and scheduled a bunch of gimmies. I've said that elsewhere.
At the beginning of the season, I don't recall people saying this was the hardest schedule BYU had ever faced. I do recall them saying this was the hardest opening stretch (first 4 games) in recent memory, and I think that was accurate. But that says nothing about the other 8 games on the schedule.
