I'll be honest. I feel a little betrayed by Bronco and this has me worried
Bronco just seemed to be the perfect match with what the BYU brass want in a BYU football coach. He seemed to embrace the mission of the school and how the football program tied into it. Now he jumps ship for a huge payday at....Virginia? Wasn't he just talking a couple of weeks ago about how college football coaches are radically overpaid or something like that?

To me this just feels off kilter somehow. Like maybe he's just been toeing the party line over the past 11 years kind of waiting for the special season, the break through, the P5 invitation, or whatever. But maybe now he sees that none of that is on the horizon and he just wants to move on. I thought Bronco was committed to making happen for BYU even within the limitations and restrictions that we artificially place on ourselves. Was that all an act? He leaves for....Virginia? It's $3.25MM a year, but Virginia? Really?

So now I have all of these questions:

- If Bronco of all people couldn't stick it out and make it happen for BYU, who really can?
- Did Bronco get the support he needed from the university brass to empower the football program to be what the fans want it to be?
- Will a P5 invite ever come? Why would Bronco leave now if it was on the horizon?
- Are we destined to independent limbo and middle-of-the-road seasons like we've been having?

I'm kind of bummed today because it feels like Bronco - the guy who, like him or not, fought and stood up for BYU and was determined to lead us to the next period of glory - just gave up on it all of a sudden.

Strange day. Thanks Bronco for the good times. I wonder if we'll end up missing you and if BYU can ever become what we want it to be.
