None of the three or four strongest candidates this past year would have been qualified even two years ago. Ken N. would have been the closest but still a bit of a reach. Andy Reid has been the one constant pie in the sky candidate that we were never going to get.
And as someone else mentioned, firing Bronco because you have a better candidate is a lot different than being forced to find a new candidate. I think the point remains that there were no realistic "qualified" options. Only a handful of young guys with a lot of potential. But we saw where that got us with Doman/Howell and trying to rush guys into coordinator positions too early.
