He had some great games and a couple that were not so great, but overall is among the best QBs ever at BYU when considering potential based on what results we have seen. That being said, I don't know why BYU fans would want him to play next year. In his only season, he got banged up and played hurt almost half of the season. I don't know if he is solid enough to avoid injury. Next year, there will be younger QBs in the system with 4 full years of tutelage under Detmer. Mangum playing next year may cause them to transfer at worst and they will lose valuable development and experience at least. Shouldn't we be looking beyond just next year? I mean, this is crazy. He would probably leave for the NFL after next season anyway (he would be eligible).
Do I sound nuts? That's how those who think it would be better if Taysom Hill left and didn't return sound to me. Just staaaaahhhhp already!
Tanner has had me excited for 3 years, but a player and leader like Taysom is rare--ultra rare. I am only asking for one more shot from him.
