Do your #2 and #4 pitcher throw more than 3 pictches?
change, fastball, slider, curve?

Regardless, your pitchers have to put the ball in play for your defense to get outs...so pitchers should always work to be a head in the count. IF that doesn't happen then it will be a long long day for your team. Your offense will have to be playing from behind if your pitcher isn't working ahead in the count.

How are the pitchers with their control? Do they pitch only a fast ball, trying to bull their way through? Best to have your pitchers mix in various pitches and be thinking grounders to your infield for easy outs or even double plays.

When I coached, I would always instill, have to get a head of the pitch count...so a slider, fast then change...12-6 curve...carving the plate with solid technique was what I would work with then just throwing "hard". Worked for our pitchers as batters (HS level, travel team) were always looking for pitches thrown "hard". Kids could throw hard, we just didn't rely on that as a team..
