sometimes it's hard to have our views on sports (especially) taken at face value if people (okay, men but only some) are reminded that we're a woman. That's part of what makes CB a good place for us. I've encountered far less patronizing than on some sites. It's sometimes hard to find very many women who enjoy talking sports or understand them enough to really do it. If it's relevant, you'll see the gender in the conversation. If it's not relevant, there's no reason to have it glaring at people right off the bat. Just my view. I've been toying with a new CB name and have thought about something that would make it obvious I'm a woman but still can't decide for this very reason.
Edit added: If we've sought out joining a sports comment board, chances are we know what we're getting into so don't worry about what you may say. I also suspect there are many more of us than you realize.
