later this summer. They were never going to make any decision on expansion during their spring meetings. The meetings were simply a time to receive information from the consultants and then go back and digest and analyze the data (and apparently request more data from the consultants) with the intent of meeting later this summer to hopefully come to a resolution on the matter.
Now, the phone conversation could be as simple as reaffirming that they are satisfied at remaining at 10 teams in the foreseeable future. Or it could be them realizing that adding a couple of specific teams (and I'm assuming data on specific teams is probably part of what additional data they asked for) would be a big benefit and they could vote to move forward with expansion. But regardless of which way they lean (and as of right now I get the vibe that they are leaning towards staying at 10 teams for now), this discussion was always scheduled to be had.
