I was once a VP for a private company that was being purchased by a larger public corporation. The deal had been settled. All financial terms were in agreement. I received phone calls from the CEO and COO of the public company welcoming me to the new team the Friday before the official transaction date which was to be the following Monday.

The deal never happened. Nothing is done until it is done.

Saying that, I like BYU's chances this go around. I am optimistic, but will be giddy until it is officially announced.
