Why are you in the Express lane if not to go faster than the regular lanes?

The people clogging the HOV lane are going the speed limit or only 5 mph over. All of the cars stacking up behind them would like to go 80ish. If you are happy driving 70-75 mph, there is no need to be in the HOV lane, because the regular lanes will carry you at that speed.

(All bets are off during commuting hours.)
