A lot of turnovers are forced because Utah's D line vs. BYU's O Line is a fantastic matchup for Utah, and it flusters our QBs. That said, I think we can all agree that:
2015: 5 BYU Turnovers, 0 Utah Turnovers
2013: 1 BYU Turnover, 0 Utah Turnovers (this is not a "luck" game - Utah won fair and square, IMO)
2012: 2 BYU Turnovers, 0 Utah Turnovers
2011: 7 BYU Turnovers, 0 Utah Turnovers
2010: 4 BYU Turnovers, 3 Utah Turnovers
That's 19 BYU, 3 Utah. And 15-0 in favor of Utah in the last 4 games. I would say that is definitely a statistical improbability, although some of it you have to give Utah credit for.
Rivalry games are crazy. Hats off to Utah for taking advantage of luck when it's handed to them. At some point, it will run out or turn in BYU's favor, and I hope that BYU takes advantage at that point.
